Posted November 07, 2018 11:33:53A man was driving through a parking lot in New South Wales when he spotted a damaged transmission in a parked vehicle in the process of being repaired.
The man, who did not want to be named, said he had just bought the vehicle and had been on a weekend break.
“It was a big surprise to me because I’d never seen anything like that,” he said.
“I thought it was the fault of someone else but I thought it could have been me.”
The motorist drove off in his truck, which was later found in a parking garage.
“He got the engine running and put it in gear and that’s when he found out what was wrong,” Mr Johnson said.
Mr Johnson said the car had been parked for at least three weeks.
“The transmission was broken, it was in such bad shape, it wasn’t even in good condition,” he added.
“You would think someone would just go and get a replacement but you never expect something to be in such a bad shape.”
The owner of the motorist’s car said it was not worth salvaging.
“This is a pretty sad story, but the engine in this car was running good and the transmission was working fine.”
There was no damage to the car at all and it was just a matter of replacing the transmission,” he told the ABC.
