Allison Transmission fluid is leaking.
It can’t be fixed.
The company said Friday that it will not change transmission fluid in cars that have the problem.
The issue involves the transmission fluid from Allison’s newest cars, the 2018-2020 Subaru Legacy and Subaru Forester.
The company said in a statement that the transmission flushed its transmission fluid during an inspection of the transmission in February.
It said the fluid leaked into a drain outlet that connects to a pump.
The leak is a problem for the vehicle, but it’s not a serious one, said John Wiegert, a spokesman for Allison.
The vehicle is still running fine, and the fluid has not leaked into the car, he said.
The problems are not unique to Allison.
Transmission fluid leaks in a large number of cars, according to the American Automobile Association.
Some dealers say the problem is more common in older vehicles.
More:More:Some Subaru owners reported problems with the fluid leaking, Wiegerton said.
It appears to be happening with the Forester, Legacy and Legacy EX models.
A representative for Allison did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
